How are Trauma Disorders Diagnosed?

To start the diagnostic process for trauma, we’ll set up a thorough evaluation with one of our experienced clinicians. During this session, we’ll listen to your story and get a clear picture of your medical history, current symptoms, and the challenges you’re dealing with.

We believe in working together on your treatment, meaning you’ll play a key role in both the diagnosis and crafting your treatment plan. Your thoughts and feedback are welcomed as we collaborate to create a personalized path to recovery.

Trauma is typically caused by experiencing or witnessing distressing events such as violence, accidents, natural disasters, or abuse. The severity of the trauma can vary, and you may react differently based on your personal history, resilience, and support systems. Even witnessing a traumatic event can cause you significant emotional distress.

Treatment options for your trauma may include psychotherapy, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Medications may also be used to manage your symptoms, and support groups can provide you with a space to share experiences and gain support from others.

Therapy, especially CBT, is highly effective in treating trauma. These therapies can help you process and reframe traumatic memories, reducing the emotional distress associated with them. Therapy can provide you with coping strategies and tools to manage your symptoms, leading to significant improvements in your daily functioning and overall well-being.
