“I think what made it real for me was that moment that I realized (Cornerstone) staff had experience with addiction, and then the idea of sobriety, I could visualize it. And just having support from people who have gone through things that you’ve gone through and understand you and not judge you, and you can tell that they actually want to help you. It was something I had never before”.

Who Benefits From Outpatient Drug Rehab Programs

Who Benefits Why They Benefit
People with stable and healthy living environments These individuals can receive intensive treatment while living at home, which can support recovery by maintaining a connection with family, work, and daily life. However, some outpatient programs also offer supportive housing.
Individuals transitioning from residential or inpatient care IOPs can provide a structured step-down transition from inpatient care, gradually increasing the individual's independence while still providing significant support.
Those who need more support than typical outpatient care IOPs offer a more intensive level of care than traditional outpatient programs, making it suitable for those who need more support but do not require 24/7 medical monitoring.
People with scheduling flexibility Given the time commitment, those who have flexible schedules (like remote workers, the self-employed, or individuals between jobs) may be able to participate more fully in IOPs.

Frequently Asked questions

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at Cornerstone Healing Center is a structured, supportive program tailored to individuals who are transitioning from residential or partial hospitalization treatment, or for those who require a higher level of care than standard outpatient treatment. The program is designed to accommodate individuals’ routine obligations, such as work, school, or family responsibilities, while still providing intensive therapeutic support.

During IOP, clients participate in several hours of treatment per week, usually scheduled over several days. The program includes individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy sessions, providing a comprehensive approach to recovery. This allows for personalized, one-on-one care and also fosters a supportive, communal environment for shared experiences and collective healing.

Therapeutic approaches can vary, but may include cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness practices, holistic healing practices, and more. Participants will also engage in evidence-based interventions and may receive additional support for co-occurring mental health disorders if necessary.

A key aspect of IOP is the development of essential life skills and coping mechanisms for long-term sobriety, as well as relapse prevention strategies. Clients are encouraged to apply what they learn in therapy to their day-to-day lives, gradually gaining the confidence and resilience necessary to sustain their recovery journey beyond the program.

Throughout the IOP, the dedicated and experienced therapy team, led by esteemed clinical directors, provides guidance, fosters a nurturing and safe environment, and instills passion in each client’s recovery journey, ensuring they are set up for success in their recovery journey.

Yes, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) have been found to be effective in treating addiction. These programs provide a high level of care while allowing individuals to live in their own homes and maintain certain everyday activities, offering a balance between intensive treatment and independence.

The effectiveness of IOPs can largely be attributed to their comprehensive and flexible nature. They provide several hours of therapy each week, including individual therapy, group therapy, and often family therapy. This mix allows for personalized care, peer support, and family involvement, all of which are crucial elements in addiction recovery.

Moreover, IOPs often incorporate evidence-based treatment approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and other types of therapy that have been shown to be effective in treating addiction. They also include education on addiction and recovery, skill-building, and strategies for preventing relapse.

Additionally, the structure and routine of IOPs can help individuals develop new, healthier habits and patterns of behavior, which are key to long-term recovery. IOPs also provide support for co-occurring mental health issues, which can be crucial for individuals with dual diagnoses.

However, it’s important to note that the effectiveness of an IOP can also depend on the individual’s specific needs, their level of commitment to recovery, and the quality and appropriateness of the IOP. Therefore, it is crucial to select an IOP that is a good fit for the individual’s unique situation and needs.

As with all treatment options, it’s also crucial to consider IOP as a step in the continuum of care. Successful recovery often involves progressing through different levels of care and continuing with ongoing support even after the completion of an IOP. For many individuals, participation in self-help groups, ongoing therapy, or other forms of aftercare can be instrumental in maintaining recovery long-term.

Cornerstone’s Intensive Outpatient Program is 4-8 weeks.

It’s important to note that the goal of an IOP is not only to help individuals stop using substances, but also to build the skills and strategies necessary for long-term recovery. Therefore, while the formal IOP may conclude after a certain period, ongoing participation in aftercare services, such as outpatient counseling, support groups, and other recovery maintenance activities, is often recommended to sustain the progress made during the IOP.

As with all aspects of addiction treatment, the length and intensity of an IOP should be tailored to the individual’s unique needs and situation, and should be regularly reassessed to ensure that it continues to provide the appropriate level of support.

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs), like the one offered by Cornerstone Healing Center, are frequently covered by health insurance.

The degree of coverage can vary significantly depending on the specifics of each insurance policy and the details of the program itself.

Typically, insurance plans cover a portion of the cost of IOPs as they are recognized as an essential part of comprehensive addiction treatment.

It’s important to verify coverage by directly contacting your health insurance provider and asking about your benefits.

Similarly, consultation with the treatment center is crucial to understand the cost of the program and how much your insurance is likely to cover.

Remember, investing in your recovery and mental health is an important step towards a healthier future.

After IOP, many of our clients go into our Standard Outpatient program which is similar to IOP but fewer hours/days a week.

Our standard program is meant to help make the transition from treatment to the outside world slower and more effective.
